Morgan Sheehan Trades Tow Trucks for Tides in Coral Reef Mission

Mar 27, 2025 | News

Morgan Sheehan of Sheehan’s Towing in West Palm Beach is proving that making a difference can happen both on the road and under the sea. When she’s not working in the family towing business, Morgan is diving into a cause close to her heart – saving Florida’s coral reefs.

She became involved with Guardians of the Reef, a unique project by Ocean Rescue Alliance International (ORAI). The initiative recently placed several beautiful, eco-friendly reef structures just off Hollywood Beach 10—feet underwater and about 300 feet from shore. These underwater sculptures aren’t just eye—catching they’re designed to provide much-needed homes for marine life.

At SSTA’s 10th Annual Gala, Morgan helped raise an impressive amount of money to support the project. The donors’ names are featured on a plaque that’s part of a whimsical mermaid tail statue—a perfect selfie spot for snorkelers and ocean lovers alike.

Florida is home to the world’s third-largest barrier reef system, but nearly 90% of its stony corals have disappeared. That’s why projects like Guardians of the Reef are so important – and why Morgan’s efforts matter.

About Guardians of the Reef:

Created by ORAI in partnership with the city of Hollywood, Guardians of the Reef blends art, science, and community to help restore Florida’s reefs. The project brings attention to ocean conservation, supports marine life, and invites the public to be part of the solution one sculpture at a time.
